The article is from the National Education Association website and focuses on their stances on technology use in the classroom. The NEA believes that the technology use in the classroom should mirror that in the outside world. Teachers need to be proficient in the use of technology, which emphasizes the reason college courses (like Instructional Technology) are so critical. The NEA also stresses proper funding for technology programs. Access to laptops, digital cameras, microscopes, and graphing calculators are necessary in today's educational systems. The NEA is a great source of information in the educational world. Pursuing my degree in education as I am, I think it is important that I pay close attention to what is happening in education. Websites like the NEA's can be a great resource for me. I certainly agree with a lot of the things they say about technology in schools. The world is revolving more and more on technology. It is important that teachers are fully prepared to teach its use to students.

Constant Learning of Technology

Before we started this class, I thought I had a decent handle on technology. But now that we started doing the assignments I am finding that there is so much out there that I know little about. Even things that I have thought were simple to use before, I am finding that there is so much more too them then what I know. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are two things that I use quite frequently. Yet, I am learning so much about both of them. I have never made a brochure or a newsletter in either one of them. But, it is good that these are assignments that I have to do because I will have to be able to do them in the future.

Technology

My name is Brandon Buchmann. I am from Seymour, Wisconsin, and during high school I was a three-sport athlete. Currently, I am in my third year at UW-Oshkosh. I am an elementary education major with a math minor.
In today's world, technology is everywhere. The speed at which it changes is astonishing, and it is difficult to keep up with. Teachers need to have knowledge of this technology because their students will need that knowledge in their everyday world. Not only that, but technology can save teachers time and effort. This allows them to focus on how they can better reach their students. For instance, creating a powerpoint is often used as an effective visual aid. Rather than having to create posters or other materials, the teacher can create a powerpoint that is easier to read for the students.
Young people are spending more and more time with technology each and everyday. Many use cell phones, ipods, and computers day in and day out. With the growing knowledge that young people have in the world of technology, it is the teacher's job to keep up.
